Cabinet Lead Times: What to Expect When You Order
Lead times vary widely by brand and season. Planning your order early keeps your renovation on schedule.
Nothing derails a renovation schedule like an underestimated cabinet lead time. Here's roughly what to expect across the range of brands we carry, though exact timing always depends on the season and the specific order.
Fastest: in-stock and ready-to-assemble
Cab-Tec keeps its most popular door styles in stock in US warehouses for quick delivery. NorthPoint Cabinetry is built around speed even more directly — in-stock inventory across five national warehouses typically ships within 48 hours, with free freight on most orders.
Middle ground: semi-custom
Lines like KCD, J&K, and 802 Cabinetry generally run a few weeks from order to delivery, since cabinets are built to order from a defined set of sizes and finishes rather than pulled from a shelf.
Longest: full custom and heavily modified orders
Holiday Kitchens and Bertch, which allow more dimensional and finish customization, typically take longer — each order is individually built rather than assembled from stock parts.
What actually causes delays
Beyond the brand's baseline lead time, the two biggest variables are order accuracy (a measurement error means a reorder, not a fix) and seasonal demand — spring and early summer tend to be the busiest ordering windows industry-wide. Ordering your cabinets and countertop template at the same time, rather than sequentially, is usually the single biggest schedule saver.
